This pub was called The Drum & Monkey in the 19th and early 20th centuries, then it was changed to The Moss Rose Inn (and used by the hash in the 1982 and 1983 as this) — except that everyone who lived locally simply ignored the name-change and kept on calling it The Drum & Monkey — or simply The Drum. It reverted back to its original name by the time the hash next ventured there. For ref.. see:- http://www.stmarysalderley.com/pdf/Aug09%20MagWeb.pdf

This small village, original home of Burtonwood Brewery, (now owned by Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries) is in Cheshire. It surprised me but there it is!. The Bridge is in Phipps Lane in the centre of the Village. To get to Burtonwood there are a couple of choices. Either through Warrington up the A49 or to J9 of the M62 go up the A49 to Winwick Chrurch and then turn left towards Burtonwood. Pass what is left of Winwick Hospital and then cross the Railway Bridge and Pass the 'Fiddle i' th' Bag'. Then at the T junction turn left and follow this through to the centre of the Village. Turn at the Elm Tree. and the car park is shared between the pubs Another choice would be to go along the M62 to the New access ( for IKEA and M n S) Immediately after the Burtonwood services. Go North from here and take a left at a fork towards Burtonwood Village. Turn down next to the Elm Tree and then right into the car park which is shared with the Elm Tree

A new venue for us. Halton is an interesting old village, and although being surrounded by Runcorn it retains a degree of old-world charm. The easiest approach is from the Daresbury direction. Come off M56 at Junction 11 taking A56 Eastward towards Warrington and Daresbury. Just over 1 mile along the A56 you have the Daresbury traffic lights: turn left here on to the Daresbury Expressway, signed A558 Runcorn. However you must keep to the left-hand lane following the brown sign to Halton Castle (The carriageway is marked "Halton/ The Brow") At the bottom of the slip road turn left at the traffic lights to go up Halton Brow. At the top of Halton Brow follow the road right onto Main Street and the Norton Arms is 100yds on the left. (If car park is full overflow parking will be on Summer Lane, which is the left turn at the top of Halton Brow) From Stretton and Hatton go through Daresbury village to the A56, turning turn right towards the traffic lights. At lights take the A558 Runcorn on to the Daresbury Expressway as above. From Warrington (on A5060) or from Stockton Heath (on A56) continue through Walton on the A56, then at Daresbury lights turn right onto A558 as above.
